Home Builders Care Foundation & Toll Brothers Gift EVERY Item on Veteran Shelter Wishlist
written by MCCH Staff

Thanks to TISTA’s historic donation of $500,000 last year, The Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless (MCCH) was ready when longtime partner the Home Builders Care Foundation introduced Toll Brothers to the TISTA Veterans Safe Haven Shelter in Silver Spring. Owning the home made it possible to accept the repairs and improvements offered.

But no one was prepared for the number of projects arranged, all completed within several days to minimize the impact on the 7 Veterans staying at the home. Toll Brothers reached out to vendors, suppliers and different teams within their own company to provide every item from the onsite team’s wishlist. And then they added bonus items like a new stove, a new gate, a new grill and outdoor furniture.

“It’s like a miracle to see all of this happen in 3 days!” – Tracy, MCCH Onsite Team Member

MCCH is deeply grateful to the Home Builders Care Foundation for organizing this massive project, the Toll Brothers for taking the lead and knocking off all the items on the wishlist, Ashton Manor Enviornmental for taking a HUGE invasive species tree down so the backyard is a place of rest and connection with other Veterans, and many others who played a role.

Caring for Veterans who experienced homelessness can be the best kind of shared project. Thank you all!
