Your trust is as important to us as your gift. Here's exactly who we are, how we handle your donation, and the rights you can count on as an HBCF donor.
Who we are
A registered, accountable charity
The Home Builders Care Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization, registered and in good standing with the State of Maryland. Our most recent IRS Form 990 and audit reports are available through GuideStar, and Maryland charitable solicitation documents are on file with the Secretary of State in Annapolis.
Financial statements are available on request within 30 days, just call us at 301-776-6212.

How we handle your gift
Financial transparency
Ask for our financial statements any time and we'll provide them within 30 days. Our Form 990 and audits are public on GuideStar, and our Maryland solicitation filings are on record with the Secretary of State.
Ethical fundraising
We never hire outside fundraisers or pay anyone based on a percentage of what they raise. Our volunteer solicitors are monitored by the Board of Directors.
Your privacy
You may remain anonymous, be removed from our mailing lists, or limit phone contact at any time. Your information stays confidential, we never sell or share it, except with our affiliate association, the MBIA.
Responsible use of gifts
Every gift is used for the purpose it was given, and conditional gifts are honored. Our Board reserves the right, through its executive committee, to decline gifts that aren't appropriate. All donors receive proper acknowledgment.

Our Donor Bill of Rights
HBCF has formally adopted a Donor Bill of Rights, ten protections every donor can count on.
- Know our mission and how your gift will be used
- Know the identity of those on our governing board
- Access our most recent financial statements
- Trust your gift is used for the purpose it was given
- Receive appropriate acknowledgment and recognition
- Have your information handled with confidentiality
- Expect a professional relationship with our representatives
- Know whether solicitors are volunteers or staff
- Have the opportunity to remove your name from mailing lists
- Feel free to ask questions and receive prompt, honest answers
