HBC Utilities LLC
A creative way for developers to give back: by donating front foot benefit assessments in new Maryland communities, builders help fund shelter and build a lasting endowment for the Home Builders Care Foundation.
What it is
Giving that keeps on giving
HBC Utilities LLC gives developers an alternative way to support the Home Builders Care Foundation, through the donation of front foot benefit assessments in new residential communities across Maryland.
Operating since 2005, the LLC exists to build an endowment base so HBCF can sustain and grow its work for years to come. Every dollar of revenue the LLC realizes goes directly to work on construction projects that benefit the homeless and others in need of safe shelter.
How it works
From assessment to shelter
A front foot benefit assessment (FFBA) is a charge homeowners pay over 23 to 30 years to cover the cost of installing water and sewer lines in a new community. Here's how HBCF turns that into good.
Developers give
MBIA developers either sell their FFBAs to HBC Utilities LLC at a discounted rate, or donate them outright.
Revenue accrues
Homeowners pay the assessment over the 23-to-30-year term, creating a steady, long-term stream of support.
Shelter gets built
Every dollar the LLC realizes funds HBCF construction for the homeless and others at risk, and strengthens the endowment.
